Accuracy and Flexibility with 4-Axis Swarf

The 4-axis Swarf toolpath has been enhanced to deliver optimal accuracy by improving tool axis control for 4-axis machining. These improvements also support a greater range of tool-sizes, making it easier to machine complex parts like cylindrical cams, augers, and other components that require precise wall finishing with the side of the tool. 4- and 5-axis milling machine users, as well as Mill Turn and Lathe users with live tooling, will benefit from these enhancements.

This first image compares the cut stock model and the part with a 0.001 tolerance in Mastercam 2025. Blue areas show that 0.001-0.004″ of stock is being left near the bottom half of the walls.

In contrast, Mastercam 2026 now demonstrates the improved accuracy of the 4-axis tilting to assure geometric accuracy. We now see a significant improvement in the accuracy of -the 4-axis swarf motion:
