Mastercam 2026 R2 introduces enhancements to automatic clearance planes (ACP), delivering smarter clearance strategies for efficient and safe linking motion. Depending on the geometry’s shape and orientation, ACP automatically selects the best clearance approach to avoid collisions while reducing unnecessary movement.

ACP is applied in the following scenarios:

  • The clearance area type is set to automatic

  • You select a cylindrical or spherical clearance area, with position and radius options set to automatic

In the following picture, the left image shows ACP results in Mastercam 2025. The image on the right shows ACP results in Mastercam 2026 R2. In both cases, the deburr clearance motion is set to automatic.

ACP with linking is available in the Unified, Swarf Milling, and Deburr 5-axis multiaxis toolpaths. Find the settings in the Clearance area options on the Linking page, as shown in the following picture.
